Specialised in General Surgery gaining Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 1995 followed by international post Fellowship experience in Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.

Areas of Specialisation: Gastrointestinal surgery; gastroesophageal reflux; gallstones; bowel resection and screening for bowel cancer; haemorrhoids and anal fissures; general surgery; endoscopy including colonoscopy and gastroscopy; hernia surgery including laparoscopic repair and repair of complex herniae including hiatus hernia.

Positions and Memberships: Specialist General Surgeon, Christchurch Hospital; Senior Lecturer, University of Otago Medical School; Visiting Surgeon at St George’s Hospital and Southern Cross Hospital Christchurch; past Chair of Upper, HPB and Obesity Surgery Section of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS); Inaugural member and past President of Australian and New Zealand Gastric and Oesophageal Surgery; Association (ANZGOSA); Member of New Zealand Medical Association; Member of New Zealand Association of General Surgeons; Inaugural member of Australian and New Zealand Hepatic, Pancreatic and Biliary Surgery Association (ANZHPBA).

Debbie OsbornDebbie Osborn: Clinical Assistant

Debbie has many years experience as a Practice Nurse and since 1998 has been specialising in the field of gastrointestinal disorders and general surgery. She enjoys her role of education, pre-op and post-op care of patients – aiming to see them return to normal daily activities as soon as possible.

Myra SalterMyra Salter: Medical Secretary

Myra joined the practice just after it opened in May 2004. Prior to that she was a Medical Receptionist for 7 years.

When you call or visit the Endoscopy Clinic, she will endeavour to make the process as stress-free as possible.

Jacqui SpencerJacqui Spencer: Medical Typist

Jacqui joined us in September 2011. She has worked in both the private and public health sectors as a Medical Secretary, Receptionist and Typist for approximately 20 years.
